Human Bone strength Evaluation through different Mechanical Tests
نویسنده
چکیده
Bone mineral density [BMD] generally correlates with bone strength. BMD testing is used to assess bone density and diagnose osteoporosis. The correlation between CT numbers and mechanical property estimated from cortical bone were found to be low (r2<0.2) and cancellous bone were found to be higher (r2>0.6). The specific relationship depending on the types of bone, that predict elastic module from density and CT numbers were suggested for human cortical and cancellous bone. The different mechanical properties give the strength of bone. The mechanical properties can be achieved from the different tests (i.e. Tensile, compression, Torsional, creep etc.)

متن کاملAn investigation of tensile strength of Ti6Al4V titanium screw inside femur bone using finite element and experimental tests
The geometric optimization of orthopedic screws can considerably increase their orthopedic efficiency. Due to the high geometric parameters of orthopedic screws, a finite element simulation is an effective tool for analyzing and forecasting the effect of the parameters on the load-bearing capacity of different types of screws and bones. Thus, in the present study, the tensile strength of a typi...
متن کاملA comparison of the fatigue behavior of human trabecular and cortical bone tissue.
The fatigue properties of trabecular bone tissue (single trabeculae) and similarly sized cortical bone specimens from human tibia were experimentally determined on a microstructural level using four-point bending cyclic tests, and they were compared based on modulus, mineral density, and microstructural characteristics. The results showed that trabecular specimens had significantly lower moduli...
متن کاملFeasibility and tailoring of bioactive glass-ceramic scaffolds with gradient of porosity for bone grafting.
The aim of this research study is the preparation and characterization of graded glass-ceramic scaffolds that are able to mimic the structure of the natural bone tissue, formed by cortical and cancellous bone. The material chosen for the scaffolds preparation is a glass belonging to the system SiO( 2)-P(2)O(5)-CaO-MgO-Na( 2)O-K(2)O (CEL2). The glass was synthesized by a conventional melting-que...
